eero blinking blue? Why and how to fix it
⚡ Fast fix
- Blinking blue? eero is using Bluetooth during pairing.
- Turn Bluetooth on—The phone needs it to find the eero during setup.
- Stay nearby—Bluetooth range matters while the app is looking for the device.
- Still stuck in pairing? Get 24/7 expert support for the tech you rely on.
Blue sounds reassuring. Blinking blue for twenty minutes while setup goes nowhere? Less reassuring.
On an eero® device, blinking blue means Bluetooth pairing is active. Solid blue is different—it means the app has connected to the eero and setup is underway. Asurion Experts help people get home networks set up and connected every day, and this usually comes down to getting the phone and eero to actually find each other.
Keep the phone close and turn Bluetooth on
The eero app uses Bluetooth during setup. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled, the app has the permissions it needs, and the phone stays within Bluetooth range of the eero.
If setup is happening with several new eeros, work through them one at a time. eero recommends setting up and registering each unit individually rather than powering up a whole stack and making the app guess which one is which.
If the app still can’t find it
The eero may be blinking blue perfectly normally while the phone is the part missing the handshake.
Try the setup again with the phone close by. If the eero app reports that no eero was found, use the option to identify it by barcode or serial number instead of waiting on Bluetooth indefinitely.
Our guide to fixing the eero app when it can’t find your network covers Bluetooth, mobile-data, account, and setup checks in more detail.
Blinking blue after a reset means something different
If the eero started blinking blue immediately after a reset, it may be waiting to be added to a network again rather than trying to recover its old connection.
That matters because a hard reset clears the eero’s network association. If that reset was intentional, go back into the eero app and add the device again. If it wasn’t intentional, don’t keep pressing Reset—finish the setup that’s already in progress.
Give setup one clean attempt
If the app and eero still won’t connect, unplug the eero, wait about 30 seconds, and plug it back in. Once it powers up, reopen the eero app, keep Bluetooth on, and try setup again with the phone nearby.
For an additional mesh point rather than the gateway, our guide to setting up an eero Wi-Fi extender can help with placement and adding the next eero to an existing network.

FAQ
What does a blinking blue eero light mean?
Blinking blue means the eero is broadcasting for Bluetooth pairing during setup.
Is blinking blue the same as solid blue on eero?
Nope. Blinking blue means Bluetooth pairing is active; solid blue means the app has connected and setup is in progress.
Why won’t the eero app find my blinking blue eero?
Check Bluetooth, app permissions, phone distance, and whether several eeros are powered on at once. You can also identify the device by serial number if Bluetooth discovery fails.
Why did my eero start blinking blue after a reset?
A hard-reset eero needs to be added to a network again, so blinking blue can mean it has returned to pairing mode.
How long should eero blink blue?
There isn’t a useful reason to leave it blinking indefinitely if the app cannot find it. Check Bluetooth, stay nearby, and restart the setup attempt rather than simply waiting.
