How to pair your Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 and adjust volume

Your Samsung Galaxy® Watch displays the time and tracks key fitness metrics on its own. But if you haven’t yet synced it with your smartphone, you’re missing out on a plethora of expanded features and accessibility tools.

Count on Asurion Experts for reliable tech help. Whether you’re frustrated with a Galaxy Watch that won’t turn on or need home tech protection to protect your favorite devices, we have you covered. This guide teaches you how to pair the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 for volume control and call management.

What you need before pairing your Galaxy Watch 7

Make sure your Galaxy Watch 7 is fully charged, then check that your phone is compatible. The watch works with Samsung Galaxy and other Android™ smartphones. Keep in mind, some Samsung-specific features—like Samsung® Pay—may not work if you’re using a non-Samsung device. The Galaxy Watch 7 does not pair with iPhone®. While a few older Galaxy Watch models supported Apple® iOS, this version does not.

Next, download the free Galaxy Wearable app from the Google Play™ Store onto your Android phone. This app makes pairing easy and lets you manage your watch’s settings and features directly from your device.

Finally, confirm that Bluetooth® is turned on for both devices. To enable Bluetooth on your Galaxy Watch 7, follow these steps:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
  3. Tap the switch to enable Bluetooth.

How to pair your Galaxy Watch 7 with Android

To pair your Galaxy Watch 7 with a Samsung Galaxy or another Android smartphone, do the following:

  1. Open the Galaxy Wearable app.
  2. Tap Start.
  3. Select your watch from the list.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

Adjust volume from your watch or phone

A paired connection between your Android smartphone and Galaxy Watch 7 allows you to adjust watch volume settings from either device.

On Samsung Galaxy Watch 7

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Sounds and vibration.
  3. Tap Volume. Select Ringtone, Notification sound, or System sounds.
  4. Use your finger to slide the volume up or down for each setting.

On Android smartphone

  1. Open the Galaxy Wearable app.
  2. Tap Watch Settings > Sounds and vibration.
  3. Tap Volume. Select Ringtone, Notification sound, or System sounds.
  4. Use your finger to slide the volume up or down for each setting.

Troubleshooting pairing or volume issues

If the pairing process doesn’t work, restart your watch and smartphone. Verify that Bluetooth is turned on for both devices, place them close together, and try to pair them again.

Outdated software may prevent a successful sync. To check for available updates on your smartphone, take these steps:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap System > Software updates.
  3. Download and install available updates.

Make sure the Galaxy Watch 7 is updated, too:

  1. Verify the watch is fully charged.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Tap Software update.
  4. Wait for the watch to reboot and finish the installation before trying to pair it again.

If pairing repeatedly fails, reset the Galaxy Watch 7. This process deletes all settings and returns the device to its factory condition.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap General > Reset.
  3. Tap the checkmark and follow the on-screen prompts to start the reset.

FAQ

Why won’t my Galaxy Watch 7 connect to my phone?

The Galaxy Watch 7 is compatible with Samsung Galaxy and Android smartphones. It does not pair with Apple iOS devices, including the iPhone. If you have an incompatible smartphone, you won’t be able to connect it to your Galaxy Watch 7.

Can I control my phone’s volume from the watch?

No, you can’t control your smartphone’s volume from a Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. Any volume adjustments made through the watch only affect it, not your smartphone. To access and adjust your Android phone’s volume settings, take these steps:

  1. Press a Volume button on your phone.
  2. Tap Menu.
  3. Tap the name of the volume setting you want to adjust. Options include:
    • Media volume: Music, games, and videos.
    • Call volume: Volume of an incoming caller.
    • Ring volume
    • Notification volume
    • Alarm volume
  4. Slide your finger to adjust the volume.

How do I reset the watch if pairing fails?

Resetting your watch deletes saved personal data and restores it to its factory condition. If you received the watch from someone else, a reset clears their data so you can connect it with your smartphone.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap General > Reset.
  3. Tap the checkmark and follow the on-screen prompts to start the reset.
