How to reconnect an offline Blink Sync Module

⚡ Fast fix

  • Read the lights—They can tell you whether the module is offline, pairing, or fully connected.
  • Restart it once—Unplug the Sync Module for 10 seconds, then reconnect power.
  • Changed the Wi-Fi password? Update the module instead of waiting for it to guess the new one.
  • Still offline?

When a Blink® Sync Module goes offline, several cameras can suddenly look broken at the same time. That’s actually useful information: if everything dropped together, the small box connecting the system is a much better place to start than each camera individually.

Asurion Experts help customers troubleshoot connected home systems every day. With a Sync Module, the status lights can save you a lot of trial and error.

Start with the lights

Here’s what the common patterns mean:

  • Solid blue + solid green: The Sync Module is online.
  • Solid blue + blinking green: It’s offline and trying to reconnect to its previous Wi-Fi.
  • Blinking blue + solid green: It’s in setup mode and ready to connect.
  • Solid red: It can’t connect to the network, or the Wi-Fi password may be wrong.
  • No lights: Start with the outlet, adapter, and power cable.

If the module is solid blue and blinking green, don’t reset it immediately. It still remembers the old network and is trying to get back there.

Restart the module and router

Unplug the Sync Module for about 10 seconds and reconnect it. If it stays offline, unplug the router for about 30 seconds, restore power, and wait until the home Wi-Fi is fully working before checking Blink again.

If the system uses Wi-Fi extenders or pods and the module still struggles, Blink recommends temporarily simplifying the network so the Sync Module can connect to the main router first.

Changed your Wi-Fi? Update the Sync Module

A new router, network name, or Wi-Fi password won’t automatically appear inside the Sync Module.

In the Blink app:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Sync Module.
  2. Tap Change Wi-Fi Network.
  3. Follow the prompt to put the module into setup mode.
  4. When the lights show blinking blue and solid green, tap Discover Device.
  5. Join the temporary BLINK-xxxx network when prompted.
  6. Select the current home Wi-Fi.
  7. Enter the Wi-Fi password and finish the connection.

Reconfiguring the Sync Module’s Wi-Fi doesn’t delete saved clips, so there’s no reason to wipe the system simply because the router changed.

Move it if the connection keeps dropping

If the module reconnects near the router but falls offline in its usual spot, signal or interference is a stronger suspect than setup.

Keep it away from crowded clusters of networking equipment when possible and test it closer to the main router. Once the module stays online reliably, check whether the cameras return with it.

Factory reset only if reconnecting fails

Blink recommends troubleshooting the existing Wi-Fi connection before factory resetting the Sync Module. A reset puts the module back into setup mode and requires you to reconnect it.

To factory reset a current Sync Module:

  1. Unplug it from power.
  2. Press and hold the Reset button on the module.
  3. While still holding Reset, plug the Sync Module back in.
  4. Keep holding for about 5 seconds.
  5. Release when the red LED begins blinking.
  6. Wait for blinking blue and solid green lights.
  7. Use the Blink app to set the Sync Module up again.
