How to move your Blink cameras to a new Wi-Fi network

Changing the Wi-Fi password or upgrading the router usually means reconnecting a small army of devices around the house—and the Blink™ cameras aren’t going to volunteer to do it themselves. Luckily, moving them to the new network doesn’t mean setting up the whole security system again.

If the cameras use a Sync Module, change Wi-Fi there

Blink’s wireless camera systems connect through the Sync Module, so changing that module’s network updates the system without deleting each camera one by one. Reconfiguring the Sync Module’s Wi-Fi also does not delete saved clips.

In the Blink app:

1. Tap Sync Module on the Home screen.
2. Tap Change Wi-Fi Network.
3. Press and hold the Sync Module’s Reset button until one LED turns red, then release it.
4. Wait for blinking blue and solid green lights.
5. Tap Discover Device.
6. Join the temporary Blink network when prompted.
7. Select the new home Wi-Fi network and enter its password.
8. Tap Done after the Sync Module reconnects.

Standalone Mini cameras change Wi-Fi on the camera

If a Mini or Mini 2 is operating as a standalone camera rather than through a Sync Module, open More > Device Settings > General Settings > Change Wi-Fi.

Follow the prompts to put the camera into setup mode, tap Discover Device, join the temporary BLINK-XXXX network, then select the new Wi-Fi and enter the password. If the new network isn’t listed, Blink recommends refreshing the list or moving the camera closer to the router.

The Wired Floodlight and Video Doorbell can be different

A standalone Wired Floodlight Camera also uses General Settings > Change Wi-Fi. Blink Video Doorbells in Event Response Mode have their own Change Wi-Fi flow, while a doorbell managed by a Sync Module follows the Sync Module process instead.

That’s why resetting every Blink device after changing routers creates a lot of work that usually isn’t necessary.

If the new network doesn’t show up

Move the camera or Sync Module closer to the router temporarily and refresh the available network list. Double-check the Wi-Fi password too—especially after a router replacement, when the network name can look almost identical to the old one.

A full factory reset isn’t the normal move

Changing Wi-Fi is built into the Blink app. Use those network-change controls before deleting cameras or factory resetting the system.
