How to file a claim with Verizon

If your phone is lost, stolen, or damaged, you may be wondering what to do next. Verizon customers with eligible device protection can file a claim to get a replacement or repair. The process is simple, and knowing the steps can save you time.

Verizon partners with Asurion, a leader in device protection, to handle claims and replacement devices. Verizon Tech Coach Experts also help enroll customers every day with questions like this—from filing claims to setting up new phones. Here’s how to file a claim with Verizon.

When can you file a claim with Verizon?

You can file a claim if you’re enrolled in a Verizon device protection plan, like Verizon Mobile Protect. These plans, provided in partnership with Asurion, typically cover:

  • Lost or stolen devices.
  • Accidental damage, like a cracked screen.
  • Mechanical or electrical failures after the warranty expires.

If you’re not sure whether your device is covered, log in to your My Verizon account or check in the My Verizon app.

How to file a claim with Verizon

Follow these steps to file your Verizon claim:

  1. Go to the Verizon claim page, powered by Asurion.
  2. Enter your phone number and Verizon PIN.
  3. Select the device you’re filing a claim for.
  4. Choose the reason for your claim (lost, stolen, damaged, or malfunctioning).
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the claim and pay any deductible, if required.

Once approved, Asurion will ship your replacement device—often as soon as the next day.

What to do after filing your claim

  1. Track your claim status anytime on the Verizon claim page.
  2. When your replacement arrives, follow the included instructions to activate your new device.
  3. Return your damaged device (if applicable) using the prepaid shipping label provided by Asurion.
