How to back up your Verizon phone (iPhone and Android)

Your phone holds some of your most important information—photos, contacts, apps, and messages. If it’s ever lost, stolen, or replaced, backing up your Verizon phone ensures your data is safe and easy to restore.

Whether you’re using an iPhone or an Android, here’s how to back up your Verizon device.

Why you should back up your Verizon phone

  • Protect your memories. Keep photos and videos safe if your phone is lost or damaged.
  • Make switching devices easy. When you upgrade to a new Verizon phone, you can transfer your data seamlessly.
  • Restore quickly after problems. A backup lets you get your phone running again after a reset or software issue.

  1. Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi.
  2. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.
  3. Turn on Back Up This iPhone.
  4. Tap Back Up Now to start the process.

Your iPhone will automatically back up daily when connected to Wi-Fi and charging.

Using a computer (Mac or PC)

  1. Connect your iPhone with a cable.
  2. On a Mac, open Finder. On a PC, open iTunes.
  3. Select your iPhone.
  4. Choose Back Up Now.

How to back up an Android phone on Verizon

Using Google One

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Google > Backup.
  3. Turn on Back up by Google One.
  4. Tap Back Up Now to start.

This backs up your apps, contacts, photos, and settings to your Google account.

Using Verizon Cloud (optional)

Verizon also offers Verizon Cloud as a backup option. With it, you can store contacts, photos, videos, and more securely online, and access them across devices.

To use it:

  1. Download the Verizon Cloud app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Open the app and sign in with your Verizon account.
  3. Choose what you’d like to back up (contacts, photos, videos, etc.).

How to restore your Verizon phone from a backup

You can restore your Verizon phone from a backup using Verizon Cloud or your device’s standard backup option. Here’s how:

iPhone: During setup, choose Restore from iCloud Backup or Restore from Mac/PC, then sign in with your Apple ID.

Android: During setup, sign in with your Google account and select your most recent backup.
